The local media industry is a shining example of
what can be done when ‘vendors’ are replaced by R&D
partners in which true affiliations are formed to fill the
needs of many of the 3rd party aspects of the industry.
In another nod of the hat to the changing face of our
landscape, the Local Media Innovation Conference will
feature a dazzling technology showcase with modern
banks of monitors, stand-up booths, quick-bite seg-
ments and live demos on the latest technology gadgets
including tablets, phones, watches, fitness devices,
The showcase will demonstrate how these and other
emerging tools & services fit into culture, audience en-
gagement and operational enhancements as we move
into the next iteration of local media.
Conference attendees have an added bonus at this
gathering – the chance to participate in the one-on-one
meetings with important media buyers representing
millions of dollars in ad revenue.
The entire day of Tuesday, September 30th and the
morning of Wednesday, October 1st are dedicated to
providing quick, back to back meeting slots with a slew
of folks representing many major accounts and media
This opportunity is exclusively available to registered
conference attendees and is offered as a bonus for early
conference registration. Meeting spots fill up quickly
so for those who want in on this valuable opportunity
(imagine the time and cost involved in meeting with
these folks otherwise!), registering for the conference
sooner versus later is definitely advised.
As of press time, the list of media buyers
who will be in Philadelphia includes:
■ Dave Gusse, ACG
■ Daniel Briley, Family Dollar
■ Marsha Lawrence, Walmart (Novus)
■ Jennifer Grimm, Novus
■ Matt Spahn, PlanitRetail
■ Rick Baranski, USSPI

Just prior to the start of the conference, local ‘hack-
ers’, a.k.a. folks from the start up community, will be
invited to participate in a day long think-fest in which
they will be charged with one very simple task: come up
with a novel idea relevant to the local media industry.
No one can predict the result but one thing is for
sure...a group of smart people from outside of our
industry will combine fresh eyes and a bias for action
to produce innovative thinking to help push the needle
forward for local media companies.
The resultant ideas will be unveiled at the conference
and LMA members will crown the winner of LMA’s first
ever hackathon. Just another of the many great new
nuances to what was formerly the LMA Fall Conference.
Great stuff, eh?

The pace of technology and innova-
tion is so swift and relentless that com-
panies who keep up with it inevitably
become winners. That's why I'm glad
LMA has expanded its scope to offer
this deeper dive, showcasing
R&D partners. I'm really looking
forward to this event.
We set out to create a wow-factor with the rebranding of the fall conference, now the
Local Media Innovation Conference. This event will be unlike any that you have ever experienced.
The hackathon will bring a special feel to the conference and the two tracks ensure that we are
addressing core growth as well as future business models. Our technology expert from a well-
respected tech magazine will showcase the latest gadgets, wearables, phones, tablets, fitness
devices, games & more. And the technology showcase is going to be modern, hip and fun as
our R&D partners are also transforming how they exhibit and demo. Hope you can join us in
Philly to experience the innovation.
